CLOVER FANTASY

Electronic Ireland

My Role: Composer / Sound Designer

Supervision: ArkOne Studio

Company: Vibragaming

A tale about leprechauns, oktoberfest and lucky clovers. Typical goblin and rainbow scene, sunny day, hobbit-type goblin house.

After analyzing the style, I start with a stage of improvisation using guitar and voice. As I delve deeper into the style, I write down the ideas I like best on paper. Then, I transcribe these ideas into Sibelius, where I create the initial arrangements and harmonizations. Next, I set up an orchestration template in my DAW, which is Reaper, and perform all the instruments using my controller. If the music requires guitars and basses, I also record those personally.

«Electronic Ireland»: A blend of the traditional and the futuristic, where electronic sounds intertwine with melodies inspired by Celtic music. This mood seeks to capture the essence of Ireland through a modern lens, using both dance music beats and echoes of soundscapes inspired by the Irish mountains and coastlines, while maintaining the traditional festive atmosphere.

EL MARIACHI

Mexican Creepy

My Role: Composer / Sound Designer

Supervision: ArkOne Studio

Company: Vibragaming

A Mariachi Calaca trying to get to his girlfriend still alive. The story tells of an inland town in Mexico, where romantic ballads are heard every night. The people of the town know that they come from that dead mariachi lover, who is still courting his beloved.

«Mexican Creepy»: An atmosphere that blends the rich Mexican cultural tradition with a dark, surreal touch, inspired by Tim Burton and Danny Elfman. The story follows a mariachi calaca, a lovesick skeleton, who plays romantic ballads every night in a small Mexican town, trying to reach his still-living beloved. Amidst this somber setting, the iconic «Cielito Lindo» resonates, performed with trumpets and transformed to fit this world of love and mystery, where the traditional meets the macabre.

ZOMBIE APOPALYPSE

Horror

«Horror Music»: I created a tense and dark atmosphere that reflects the constant danger and desperation in a world devastated by the plague. The music blends electronic and orchestral elements, with deep, pulsating synthesizers driving the rhythm of the chase, while distorted strings add a touch of suspense.

For the more intense scenes, I used deep percussion and fast-paced rhythms, accompanied by metallic sounds and ominous resonances, creating a sense of urgency and imminent danger. The lower tension moments include eerie ambient sounds like whistling wind, distant creature noises, and creaking sounds that suggest a nearby threat.

Regarding sound design, every movement of the zombies is accompanied by guttural growls and flesh-tearing sounds, with sound effects that vary depending on the proximity and size of the enemy, enhancing the player’s immersion. The weapon and explosion sounds are impactful and heavy, with layers of reverb that add realism and weight to the combat.

BUCKS IN THE BANK

Spaghetti Western

My Role: Composer / Sound Designer

Supervision: ArkOne Studio

Company: Casino Web Scripts

Introduction
Welcome to the Sound Design Document for: Bucks in the Bank, a game about 3 Bandits, Killer Kate,

Lockpicker Luke and Dynamite Dan, robbing a bank in the wild wild west, which is meant to be light-
hearted, but also a badass, fun time.

The player spins the reels to land symbol combinations and win money.
On top of the reels, 3 Vaults shine and tease the player, waiting to be broken into by the bandits. By
landing Bucks in the reels, the player can fill up the Vaults more and more until they finally burst
open and award 1 of the 3 respective feature games, or if multiple burst at the same time, even
combinations of the feature games.
In one of the feature games, the Shoot ‘n’ Spins, the player has to collect silver bullets to fire at the
Lawmen, who are trying to stop them from getting their loot.
In the second feature game, the Jackpots feature, the player has to collect keys to unlock any of the
5 mini-vaults that house the 5 Jackpots, whose Value can be seen above/on the side of the reels
(depending on whether you’re playing in Portrait or Landscape mode)
In the third feature, the player can land golden bullets, which are shot at random positions on the
reels to create Wilds with Multipliers on them, in the positions that were hit.
A combination of these features could be 1+2 for instance, where the player would have to shoot
Lawmen and collect keys at the same time.
In the best case scenario, if the player triggers all features (1+2+3) together, they get to shoot
Lawmen with golden bullets, multiplying their Value, collect keys to get Jackpots AND shoot the
Lawmen with silver bullets to collect their Value!

Goals
• Bucks in the Bank should sound like a Spaghetti Western movie, but it should also feel a bit
fun and light-hearted, not too serious.

CREATIVE PROCESS

Creative Process: Bucks in the Bank

  1. Thematic and Aesthetic References
I started by immersing myself in the world of Spaghetti Westerns, drawing inspiration from iconic soundtracks such as For a Few Dollars More by Ennio Morricone and the atmospheric style of The Lone Wanderer. These references helped shape an evocative and dramatic soundscape that perfectly fits the dusty, cinematic world of Bucks in the Bank.

  2. Sound Identity Design

    • Instrumentation: Signature instruments were selected, including reverberating acoustic and electric guitars, melodic whistles, harmonicas, dramatic trumpets, and minimalistic percussion (e.g., wooden boxes or whip sounds). The goal was to capture the nostalgic and rugged essence of the Wild West while complementing the game’s dynamic pacing.

    • Musical Motifs: I crafted recurring themes to align with key gameplay dynamics, from the suspense of spinning the reels to the celebratory moments of big wins, all while preserving the Spaghetti Western essence.

  3. Sound Design

    • Ambience: A detailed soundscape was developed with desert winds, footsteps on sand, distant church bells, and echoing gunshots, adding authenticity and depth to the game’s environment.

    • Event Effects: Every in-game action, like reel spins, was paired with custom sound effects inspired by Western motifs, such as gun clicks or spur jingles. Winning moments featured triumphant trumpet melodies to enhance the player’s experience.

  4. Music Production

    • Composition: To balance authenticity with gameplay dynamics, I began with guitar improvisations that reflected the Spaghetti Western style. These ideas were further refined into structured compositions that brought the world of Bucks in the Bank to life. Instrumentation and arrangements were designed to evoke tension, excitement, and celebration, seamlessly transitioning between different game states.

MUSICAL DESCRIPTION

The music for this Spaghetti Western-themed slot game captures the essence of classic Western films from the 1960s, blending iconic elements of the genre with a modern twist. Featuring bold, driving rhythms and the unmistakable sound of sharp, twangy guitars, the soundtrack evokes the dusty, sun-baked landscapes of the Old West. Layered with atmospheric whistles, haunting melodies, and tense, dramatic builds, the music immerses players in a world of outlaws, gunfighters, and dusty frontier towns. Inspired by composers like Ennio Morricone, the score is both cinematic and edgy, designed to keep players on the edge of their seat as they spin the reels.
